Episode 4: Etymology

What is etymology?

It doesn't have anything to do with insects. (That's entomology.)

It's the study of the origin of words and phrases and how their meanings have changed throughout time.

I know, I know...Nerd Alert!

We've all used phrases that make no sense if we think about them and their literal meanings, yet we know what we are trying to convey. Describing a downpour as "raining cats and dogs" or knowing someone who has "a chip on their shoulder" are two phrases we understand but we don't search for felines and canines on the lawn and we don't inspect someone's shoulder looking for a chip!

So where does this all start?  Listen and find out!

Episode 3: Crime Scene Cleaners

When something terrible like violence or unattended death occurs, who has the job of cleaning the aftermath?  Nate Berg and his Scene Clean crew, that's who.  Listen to my chat with one of the most interesting people doing the most interesting jobs I've ever heard of on this episode of C U R I O U S.
